ARTIST STATEMENT
There is no message to my artwork. I create it purely for the sensual pleasure, found first during the act of creating, then in the contemplation. My hope is always to entice the viewer, to provide elements of relaxation, flow, relief from the hectic pace of everyday life. But also a sense of discovery as the eye wanders across the surface, following the undulating lines of the seams, stopped occasionally, then drawn back in.
My quest has been, and continues to be, to find the balance between satisfyingly complex composition and not overstimulating. I love all colors equally (except for pink with which I seem to have "issues". But I'm working on that, too.), and letting them talk to each other, inviting them to a new "party" and encouraging them to mingle each time I start a new piece, is endlessly fascinating to me.
